Pickering Farm Wedding

Ailish + Evan

This wedding had it all: a beautiful farm, a bagpiper, gigantic bonfire, a food truck and an amazing group of family and friends.

Ailish and Even actually live up in Ottawa but chose to have their wedding in the small little village of CherryWood where Evan grew up. If I’m being honest, I’m a little jealous that Evan got to grow up in Cherrywood, it seems like an extremely close knit and fun place to live! How many places can you think of where your neighbour opens up their home to 150 people so you can have your wedding?

Hair and makeup happened at yet another generous neighbours house and was done by Glam Galz while Evan and his side got ready at his parents house just down the road. After a great first look and some family portraits we all headed over to the farm for the ceremony which was officiated by Lainie Madgison who did a great job keeping the ceremony light hearted and meaningful to Ailish + Evan.

Dinner was a really nice, casual affair with everyone ordering from We the Fork… I highly recommend the jerk chicken tacos. :)

Everyone had dinner and drinks while speeches from the parents, family and friends carried on. From there it was time to the light the bonfire (by flaming arrow!) and and get the dancing started on the barn stage with a little Whitney Houston’s ‘Dance with Somebody. From the first dance on, I don’t think the dance floor slowed down for the rest of the night!

Helping to put this entire amazing day together was Liz from Alfresco Wedding and Events.

The stunning florals and bouquets were by Euclid Farms.

Toronto Downtown Wedding

Ashleigh + Erik's Wedding at the Queen + Beaver Public House

Small, intimate restaurant weddings are fast becoming my favourite way to spend a Saturday working.  There's just something great about the laid back vibe and intimacy of these events and Ashleigh + Erik's wedding at the Queen and Beaver Public House was no exception.

We started the day with some getting ready pictures at the Eaton Chelsea Hotel which was right across the street from the pub... a wedding photographers dream, I only had to park once!  :)

It was a super relaxed ceremony, not even walking down the aisle.  Everyone just grabbed a pint, sat down and then the ceremony began. After some really emotional toasts, we headed outside for some quick downtown wedding portraits.

The Queen and Beaver definitely lives up to the British pub heritage, putting on an amazing feast of Indian curries and Sunday roast for dinner.

The partying and dancing were great that night, with Ashleigh's ballet friends and Erik's band (Oh yeah, I forgot... Erik play's the Great Lake Swimmers!  Great band, check them out) went late into the night.

A very good year!

Look, no one is more surprised than me that my Best of 2014 slideshow is done in January instead of my usual early may but here it is and I hope you enjoy it!  :)

It was a great year, full of amazing clients and fantastic weddings.  I got to photographer weddings at some of my favourite wedding venues in Toronto and around Ontario including:

I also got to photograph some smaller, intimate weddings at restaurants, bars and cottages which I always love.

And of course I also got to work with some other amazing photographers like Aron Goss, Ben Benvie, Sam Wong, Kate Hood, Fer Juaristi, Tim Forbes and Fran Chilico

Kitchener Museum Wedding Photography

Leigh + John

Another one of my favourite 2013 weddings is up on the blog today!

Leigh + John were married this past summer at The Museum in downtown Kitchener.   These days, most of my weddings are in Toronto so it's always nice when I can shoot a wedding that's a little more local.

We started the day (okay... late afternoon!) getting ready at the Walper Hotel and John's mothers condo and then headed over to The Museum for the ceremony and reception.  We ducked out after the wedding ceremony for a few quick portraits right in the middle of Bluesfest.

The reception was great, heartfelt speeches and a rocking dance floor!

Cambridge Wedding Photography

Photograph of a flower girl posing with the bride during a wedding a the Butterfly Museum in Cambridge, Ontario by Scott Williams of www.scottwilliamsphotographer.com

Here's a wedding photograph I like from a wedding I second shot with Ben Benvie in Cambridge, Ontario at the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory.  While the bride and the flower girl were posing for Ben I loved the contrast of the two dresses and the barefoot flower girl standing amongst the petals.

The Fuji X Pro 1 did an amazing job with the colours, this is a JPG straight out of the camera!

Check back soon for more images from this wedding!
