Langdon Hall Summer Wedding

Tiffany + Zoubin

350+ weddings and sometimes I still get a first… remember that huge storm that rolled through a couple weeks ago? Yeah, that day!

Tiffany & Zoubin had a beautiful wedding at Langdon Hall even with having such a curveball thrown at them.

Things were going great, Tiffany and the girls were up in the Spire room doing hair and makeup. Earlier in the week, the forecast had called for rain on the Saturday but closer to the day the forecast was looking pretty good. Then, without much warning at all some people got a severe weather warning and then just before 12:30 the front hit us at Langdon Hall. Windows were blown open, full length mirrors were smashed to the ground and of course the power went out… the power went out for the next 6 hours.

After the emergency generators kicked in we spent the next 30 minutes looking for an working outlet for a hair dryer and curling iron so Tiffany could finish having her hair done… we found a working outlet in a random emergency stairwell!

I have to say that the staff at Langdon Hall handled all this with their usual professionalism and skill, making everyone there feel safe and cared for.

Once everyone was finally ready (Zoubin essentially had to get ready in the dark!), we had the couples first look in the elegant Orchard Room and then some portraits around the beautiful grounds of Langdon Hall… it was kind of amazing how fast the staff had cleaned things up.

The ceremony was held in the Summer House with Tofu the wedding dog ring bearer stealing the show!

The rest of the night was held in the Firshade Room with a beautiful dinner (of course, it’s Langdon Hall!) and some wonderfully touching speeches.

Thank you Tiffany and Zoubin for allowing me to be a part of your big day!

Graydon Hall Spring Wedding in Toronto

Jennifer + Jarvis

Jennifer and Jarvis had a really great springtime wedding at Graydon Hall in Toronto.

Not going to lie, we were all al little worried at the forecast but me being the lucky rabbits foot I am the rain held off and we were able to really enjoy the day and the beautiful grounds at Graydon Hall.

I started the day with Jennifer and her bridesmaids at their new place (they moved the week before the wedding!). Fun fact, Jennifer was referred to me by one of my previous brides who was one of her bridesmaids. Check out Najwa + Trevin’s beautiful wedding at the Art Gallery Of Ontario!

From there we headed off to Graydon Hall so everyone could get dressed and we could have a first look. I’m always such a huge fan of the first look as it gives the wedding day such a nice flow as you can go straight from the ceremony to the cocktail hour without having to to break for pictures!

The ceremony was held at the lovely Lawrence Park Community Church and included an absolutely adorable ring bearer and flower girl duo who almost stole the show from Jennifer… almost. :)

Jennifer and Jarvis also had a lovely tea ceremony at Graydon Hall following the wedding service and then it was time for cocktail hour, speeches and some dancing!

Fun fact, Graydon Hall was the expensive wedding venue from Shitts Creek!

Hessenland Winery Autumn Wedding

Cassandra + Antony

Cassandra and Antony had an absolutely lovely wedding at one of my all time favourite wedding venues, Hessenland Inn on the shores of Lake Huron in Southwestern Ontario.

Like almost every other couple getting married these days, their wedding plans had been wrecked by COVID-19 forcing rescheduling and even rebooking of a certain vendor who I won’t name who refused to provide proof of vaccination or even get tested…. luckily Cassandra and Antony were able find an amazing replacement in Jeff Sabin!

Began the day with Cassandra and the girls at her parents beautiful country property just outside of Zurich, Ontario as they got their hair and make up done. Also popped quickly into town to Cassandra’s brothers place were the boys were hanging out for some prep pictures of them as well.

Cassandra and Antony opted to have a first look where they see each other before the wedding, something that I always recommend. In my experience this gives the wedding day schedule a much better flow… We can get all the portraits out of the way before the ceremony which allows the everyone to go straight from wedding ceremony to cocktail hour to the reception. I find it also gives couples more time with the guests and more opportunities for candid moments.

Cassandra and Antony lucked out and had the most amazing weather for a wedding in October… not a cloud in the sky and it was still pretty warm out for their outdoor wedding ceremony.

For cocktail hour they had arranged to have lots of games for their guests to enjoy on the beautiful grounds of Hessenland Inn.

Dinner was amazing, as always, with plenty of laughs and even a few tears during speeches and lots of dancing to end the night!

Langdon Hall Summer House Wedding

Elizabeth + Stephen

Really had an amazing day at Elizabeth + Stephen’s beautiful Langdon Hall wedding!

Not too many weddings where the bride gets upstaged but in this case I think even Elizabeth will allow it… these two had an adorable son who stole the spotlight without even trying!

Theirs was one of those COVID weddings where I think we were on our 2nd or 3rd postponement date by this point but I can say it was well worth the wait!

Langdon Hall has always been one of my favourite wedding venues in Ontario but I haven’t had a lot of experience with their new Firshade Room and Summer house but I can now see the appeal… I absolutely love the Summer House as a wedding venue… It combines rustic and modern and indoors and outdoors like nothing I’ve ever seen before!

I started the day at Elizabeth’s parent’s house and then it was off to Langdon Hall for a beautiful outdoor ceremony (no rain!). We followed that up with some timeless family portraits and as well as wedding party and couple photos around the grounds of Langdon Hall… even managed to get some nice golden hour pictures!

The reception was filled with some beautiful and touching speeches and some amazing food… Langdon Hall had a sweet onion puree soup that was to die for.

The evening was capped off with some lovely parent dances.

Toronto Backyard Wedding

Geraldine + Raphael

Well, it’s been a while but I’m happy to say I’ve got some weddings to blog again!

First up is Geraldine & Raphael’s lovely, intimate backyard wedding in Toronto.

I started the day with Geraldine and the girls at an AirBnb in midtown with the girls getting hair and make up as well as some bridal portraits.

Then it was off to a lovely Catholic wedding ceremony at St. Basils Catholic Parish in downtown Toronto. After the ceremony we managed to just dodge the rain to get some family pictures done and then we headed off to the University of Toronto for wedding portraits with just Geraldine & Raphael… where we did NOT manage to dodge the rain but still made the best of it!

So originally Geraldine & Raphael had a big wedding planned with a reception at Fantasy Farm in Toronto’s east end but of course COVID 19 had other plans so instead they had a very intimate, and very nice, backyard wedding reception under a tent catered by some of their favourite local Toronto restaurants.

The highlight of the night was a surprise piñata in the shape of giraffe (GERaldine + RAFael… get it? Get it?) and the flower girls VERY enthusiastic destruction of said piñata :)

Happy Anniversary!

Danni + Felipe

Can’t believe this wedding was 4 years ago, feels like yesterday!

Still one of my all time favourite weddings, it’s actually my current sample album.

Happy anniversary to these two (and their adorable daughter!).

This wedding was amazing.

Danni + Felipe met on the beaches of Australia and have been globetrotting ever since.   They currently live in British Columbia so it's always a bit of a worry when I haven't met a client before their wedding... needless to say this this wasn't problem.  Danni + Felipe, their family and their friends welcomed me with open arms and I felt like one of the gang!

The wedding started out at the fabulous Shangri-La Hotel in downtown Toronto with the guys and girls getting ready. Wendy Rorong did an amazing job with the makeup; giving all the girls a clean, natural look! We then headed over to Osgood Hall for an amazing first look and a few formal portraits of Danni + Felipe and their wedding party!

Over at the Fermenting Cellar the amazing wedding planner Alusha from A Lush Affair had put together a beautiful candle lit space for their wedding ceremony, which was partly in Spanish by Paula Da Nova in honour of Felipe's friends and family from Ecuador.  The flowers from the Coriander Girl looked great, especially the bouquet.

Some good speeches, some good food and some great dancing (Helped out by DJ Lexx) rounded out the rest of the night!

I'd like to give a huge thanks to wedding photographer Nick Driver from Artanis Collective who did an amazing job second shooting!

Ancaster Mill Winter Wedding

Lisa + Tyler

LIsa + Tyler had an amazing winter wedding at the Ancaster Mill in Ancaster, Ontario.

I started my day hanging out with Tyler and his identical twin brother (not going to lie, I almost got them mixed up a couple times during the day) as everyone got ready in their townhouse. From there it was off to meet up with Lisa and her girls at her parents house as she had the finishing touches of hair and make up done. Once the dress was on it was time for a really nice reveal with her dad.

The ceremony was held at the chapel on the grounds of the Ancaster Mill. They did a fantastic job with the construction of the chapel, everything you could want in a ceremony venue1 After the ceremony we staid in the chapel for some family pictures and then braved the cold for some winter portraits on the beautiful grounds of Ancaster Mill.

Dinner and speeches were fantastic, Tyler’s brother doing his best to embarrass Tyler! Lisa had great choreographed dances with both Tyler and her dad to kick off the party!

Angus Glen Winter Wedding

Anita + Gehan

Anita + Gehan had a beautiful winter wedding at the Angus Glen golf club in Markham just north of Toronto, Ontario.

These two planned a wedding while simultaneously moving to Buffalo to start new careers… and then jetted off to South Asia for an extended 6 week honeymoon (and family visit!)

Spent the morning with Anita and her family who are some of the nicest people you meet! This wedding was truly an international affair with people flying in from all over the world.

Anita had a really stunning pair of Jimmy Choo’s for her wedding, I’m not a shoe guy (or a dress guy, or a flowers guy) but even I was impressed by those shoes!

Anita + Gehan were planning on getting their rings custom made on their honeymoon so one of the most touching moments of the day was when Anita’s father presented Anita with her grandmothers (I think??? I need to take better notes) wedding ring to use.

After some toasts with family and a few traditions, everyone packed into the limo in the rain/snow and off to Gehan’s family church of St Barnabas Catholic Church in Scarborough, Ontario. The ceremony was really nice, the priest did a brilliant job of getting some humour in the sermons… something that doesn’t always happen but is always appreciated by me!

After some hugs and congratulations it was back into the limo for the drive up to Markham and Angus Glen Golf Club where we spent some time getting portraits of Anita + Gehan and their families. The reception in the Great Room was fantastic, featuring some awesome speeches, great traditions, a truly kick ass cake made by Anita’s mom and a great party on the dance floor!

Archeo Toronto Winter Wedding

Emily + Aaron

Archeo is one of my favourite Toronto wedding venues… it’s got a great vibe & decor, is the perfect size for an intimate wedding and is located in Toronto’s Distillery District. Throw in the fact that it’s winter and the Christmas market is in full swing and you’ve got something magical.

But we’ll get to all that, first things first I met up with Emily and her girls at her apartment as they all got ready. They were lucky enough to be able to rent their neighbours house as an AirBnB so there was lots of room for everyone to relax and get ready. Once Emily was into her amazingly cute dress, it was off to Archeo and the Distillery District.

After a great first look and some wedding party portraits, Emily, Aaron and I went off to tour the Distillery District for some wedding portaits…. One of the highlights was when we ran into a group of Christmas carollers and they sang to Emily + Aaron!

The ceremony was chock fill of great moments: an officiant I’d never worked with before but who was great, multiple kisses before ‘the kiss’ , the rings on a little dog statue and a Stranger Things duet to finish things off.

Dinner was great (mmm… steak) and was filled with tons of laughter and some amazing speeches, capped off with an amazing wedding toast by Emily’s sister the maid of honour. Emily + Aaron’s speech finished off with Christmas crackers… one of Emily’s favourite things.

The DJ that night was DJ Nine and let me tell you he was one of the best I’ve worked with in all these years… really kept the night moving and the dance floor jumping. Aaron was part of fraternity in university and they have a great tradition where they welcome one of their brother’s new wives by serenading her on the dance floor. Garter and bouquet tosses, slide bars and a donut table rounded out the night!

You can see some of my favourite wedding photographs at the top of this blog post and Emily + Aaron’s wedding slideshow below.

Three Bridges Waterloo Wedding

Rebecca + Matt

Rebecca + Matt had a great fall wedding at the Three Bridges event space just outside of Waterloo, Ontario.

Over 300 weddings into this I sort of think I’ve seen everything but this wedding had a new one for me… an in home barber for the guys! What a fantastic idea. Matt and his guys got a fresh trim so they were looking their best all the while getting to relax and hang out at Matt’s parents home in Waterloo. Can’t recommend this idea enough!

I joined Rebecca and her crew at a hotel in St. Jacobs as they got ready. I loved Rebecca’s Converse sneakers along with matching ones for the little flower girls.

The outdoor ceremony was held outdoors on the beautiful grounds of the Three Bridges event space. I swear the temperature dropped 15 degrees right before the autumn ceremony. We all powered through it and celebrated as Rebecca and Matt officially tied the knot. After the ceremony there was a large group photo of everyone (Most photographers hate doing these… I secretly like them!), some family photos and then we piled into the limo bus to get some more portraits in the surrounding country side taking advantage of some of the beautiful fall colours.

Being October, the reception had a really great fall/halloween vibe going all the way down to the pumpkin centrepieces filled with halloween candy…. A fact that the guests at my table didn’t discover until well into the night. :). We managed to sneak out at sunset for some golden hour wedding portraits, this time we were literally outside for less than a minute but still got some great images. Quality over quantity I always say.

One of the highlights of the night was an amazing ‘History of Dance’ number Rebecca and her dad put on during their father/daughter dance.

Some highlights from the rest of the night included a great shoe game, late night cigars and a packed dance floor!
